220 Death and Facebook

Cesar_imprimir

This past weekend I found out on Facebook that the accompanist for our choir had died. The school that the choir is affiliated with posted it on their business page, and I stumbled upon it last Saturday night. Our section leader was very upset about the circumstances of our accompanist’s death being announced on Facebook before they told our choir.

Scrolling through Facebook on a Saturday night and being forced to mourn the loss of a colleague is not my idea of a good time. It felt cheap and highly impersonal. However, I am happy to report they took the post down.
